NomadPad (the “app”) is a remote-control app that lets you use an iPhone or iPad as a trackpad and keyboard for a paired Mac on the same local network. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and what is not collected.
1. Data the Developer Collects
The developer does not operate any cloud service or backend for NomadPad. The developer does not collect, store, or process personal data on any server. Specifically:
- The app does not use analytics SDKs.
- The app does not use third-party advertising SDKs.
- The app does not create user accounts.
- The app does not transmit usage data, device identifiers, or telemetry to the developer or to third parties.
- The developer does not receive payment information. Subscription billing is handled entirely by Apple.
2. Data Used Locally by the App
The app accesses the following on your device only when needed for its core functionality:
- Camera, only while you are actively scanning a QR code for pairing. Captured frames are processed locally and are not stored or transmitted off the device.
- Local network access, to discover and connect to your Mac running NomadPadServer on the same Wi-Fi network.
- User preferences and pairing information are stored locally on the device using standard system storage (UserDefaults and Keychain).
This data is used only for app functionality and is not transmitted to the developer.
3. Subscription Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple provides the developer with anonymized aggregate sales information for business reporting purposes. The developer does not receive your name, email address, payment card number, or other personally identifying information through Apple’s purchase flow.
Billing, renewal, refunds, and account management are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies.
4. Local Network Communication
NomadPad communicates with your paired Mac over your local network using an encrypted (TLS) connection. Cursor movement, keyboard input, and control messages are exchanged directly between your iPhone or iPad and your Mac. This communication is not routed through any external server.
5. Permissions Summary
| Permission | When requested | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | When you tap “Scan QR code” | Read pairing QR code shown by NomadPadServer |
| Local Network | First connection attempt | Discover and connect to your Mac |
| Bluetooth | Not used | The app does not request Bluetooth permission |
| Location | Not used | The app does not request location permission |
6. Children’s Privacy
NomadPad is not directed to children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Third-Party Services
NomadPad does not embed third-party SDKs that collect data. The following Apple-provided platform services are used as part of normal App Store distribution:
- Apple In-App Purchase, for subscription billing
- Standard iOS and iPadOS system frameworks
These are governed by Apple’s own policies, available at apple.com/legal/privacy/.
8. Changes to this Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
